<초대의 글>
한미문화예술재단은 한국의 문화를 미국 주류사회에 알리고 또한 예술인들의 창의성이 지속해서 향상될 수 있도록 돕고 있습니다. 한글은 자랑스러운 우리 문화의 빼놓을 수 없는 한부분입니다. 이에 올해 “한글, 그 아름다움에 관하여” 란 제목을 가지고 현대 미술의 메카로 불리우는 뉴욕 첼시에서 제 11회 미술 전시를 기획하였습니다.
국제 공모전의 형식을 가진 이번 전시는8월 초에 전시공모가 언론에 보도된 이후 많은 분들의 관심과 격려가 있었고 이를 통한 우리의 글에 대한 사랑이 얼마나 뜨거운 지를 느낄 수 있었습니다. 공모는 회화, 조각, 설치, 미디어, 디자인, 공예, 서예등 모든 미술분야에서 이루어 졌으며 다양한 분야에서 전시에 지원하셨습니다. 장소의 제약상 10여 작가의 작업만을 전시할 수 있기에 많은 기회를 드리지 못하는 것을 안타깝게 생각하며 지원하신 모든 작가분들께 감사를 드리며 선정된 작가분들께는 축하를 드립니다.
이번 전시에는 우리의 글 한글의 외적, 내적인 아름다움을 창조적으로 접근한 미술작품을 선정하려 노력하였으며 공모와 선정 과정, 그리고 전시를 통해 다시한번 우리글의 아름다움을 생각해 볼 수 있는 기회를 마련하고 우리문화의 우수성을 세계속에 드러내고 나누는 기회가 되기를 바랍니다. 이번 행사를 협력해 주신 케이엔피갤러리의 김숙기 관장님과 전시를 준비하느라 수고하신 김현정, 정영순 미술분과위원장님께 특별한 감사를 표하며 여러분의 한국문화에 대한 지속적인 관심과 사랑에 감사드립니다. 앞으로도 우리의 자랑스러운 문화를 전 세계에 알리고자 노력하는 저희 한미문화예술재단을 지켜봐 주시고 격려 지원해 주시기를 부탁드립니다. 감사합니다.

<Invitation Letter>
The mission of Korean American Cultural Arts Foundation is to expose Korean cultural art and heritage to citizens of the United States and to sustain the creative development of artists.
Hanguel (Korean Language) is an integral part of our proud culture. This year the 11th art exhibition titled “Hanguel, about its beauty” will be held in Chelsea, New York, often referred to as the Mecca of Modern Art.
The exhibition is an international competition and we received a lot of interest and encouragement after announcing the opportunity in August. Competition has been made in all artistic fields, such as painting, sculpture, installation, media, design, crafts, calligraphy. Due to the limit of the exhibit space, regret that we could only select 11 applications and we could not give more opportunities to artists at this time. We would like to thank all artists who applied for this exhibition and give congratulations to those who have been selected.
Selections were made with the works which seek to express the internal and external beauty of Hanguel in creative ways. We hope that this exhibition and its process could provide you the time to think about the beauty of Hanguel and share Korea’s proud culture with the world. Wewould like to give special thanks to the president of K & P Gallery, Souk Ki Kim and chairmen of KACAF art subcommittee, Hyun Jung Kim and Young Sun Jeong for this event. We appreciate your continuous interest in and love for Korean culture and look forward to your interest, support, and encouragement to KACAF which will continue to expose and educate others to our proud culture all over the world.
